Developed to enhance your analytical and critical thinking abilities. Core and optional science and engineering classes will demonstrate how mathematics and statistics function across diverse disciplines.
While an emphasis area isn't mandatory for applied mathematics majors, completing one's requirements leads to special recognition on your diploma.
Our bachelor's program awards a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics, featuring multiple specialization options such as actuarial studies, discrete mathematics, computational methods, teaching certification, and statistical analysis. Alumni typically enter professional fields, academic careers, or graduate programs. The Grad Track Pathway allows undergraduates to simultaneously earn credits toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Mathematics.

Qualification Requirements

To be admitted to the program, the student must (1) apply at least 30 days before graduating with a bachelor's degree, (2) have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA, and (3) have a 3.5 minimum GPA in all completed Math/Stat lecture courses taken at Missouri S&T (and there must be at least one at the 3000 level).
Admission is selective and based on a combination of secondary school core curriculum (a set of required secondary school classes), ACT and/or SAT composite scores (if available), grade point average (GPA), and class rank percentile. (For non-ranking schools, GPA will be used to evaluate your application).
International students must fulfill the same admission requirements as domestic applicants, but standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) are not required but should be submitted if available. Meeting the minimum requirements, however, does not guarantee admission, nor does it guarantee admission to a particular program. Missouri S&T appreciates well-rounded students and evaluates each application individually.
Missouri S&T may request that you provide an official transcript evaluation from the World Education Services (WES). If this is required, it will be visible on your application checklist after submission of your application, or an admissions representative will contact you to request it.
Minimum English proficiency test score requirements are 80 for TOEFL, 6.5 for IELTS, 58 for PTE, or 105 for Duolingo. We also accept SAT ERW score minimum of 500.
