The Spanish department focuses on exploring the languages, literatures, and cultural traditions of Latin America and Spain. Our program provides diverse undergraduate offerings ranging from foundational Spanish language classes to advanced studies in literature, cultural studies, cinema, language structure, and teaching methods. Students can opt for either a Spanish major or minor.
Completing the Spanish major involves 123 credit hours. Alternatively, learners may select a Spanish/Foreign Language minor. We additionally provide a five-year combined International Business degree with Spanish specialization, totaling 154 credit hours. This unique program allows students to merge business expertise (in marketing or finance) with deep cultural understanding and Spanish language skills.

Qualification Requirements
Certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets, and diplomas from your school. Mississippi State recommends all school credentials from non-U.S. institutions be submitted through a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member (NACES member agency, https://www.naces.org/members) for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation. MSU's preferred transcript evaluation service is TEC or MyIEE.
An official ACT score of 20 or higher, or SAT score of 1030 (only if your GPA is below 3.0 based on our evaluation of your transcripts OR if you are applying for scholarships).
International undergraduate students applying to Mississippi State University must demonstrate English language proficiency in order to register for academic courses. The following methods of a demonstration are approved:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum band score of 6.5.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum 79 for Internet-based test
