Our undergraduate German programs are designed for students aiming to achieve advanced proficiency in both German language and cultural studies. The curriculum emphasizes practical communication skills, with faculty fostering an immersive, student-focused learning atmosphere that facilitates idea sharing, cultural awareness, and a richer comprehension of historical events, social structures, and traditions. Learners engage in critical analysis of literature, films, and artworks as they explore cultural formation processes. Through reading and dialogue, courses cultivate personal growth and appreciation for diverse perspectives, while connecting students with people, cultural products, and viewpoints from German-speaking nations and other regions where German is widely used.
The joint B.S. in German Teaching program includes supplementary coursework through the College of Education, along with specialized training in K-12 language teaching methodologies provided by the Department of World Languages and Cultures. For detailed program information and requirements, we encourage you to reach out to one of our German department faculty advisors.
