Students can choose between a general biology major without specialization or opt for one of the specialized tracks. The Department of Biological Sciences provides programs tailored for careers in education, research (both lab and field-based), biotechnology, environmental sciences, medical laboratory sciences, cytotechnology, food science technology, and pre-professional paths such as pre-medicine, pre-dental, and pre-veterinary studies. The biology major features a foundational curriculum to establish core biological knowledge, supplemented by advanced courses for specialization. Most students pursue either a comprehensive general biology track or focus on areas like general biology, cytotechnology, ecology, biomedical sciences, microbiology, plant science, toxicology, or zoology. Additional programs are available in biotechnology, environmental sciences, food science technology, medical laboratory science, and life science education.
