Studio concentrations are available in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, installation, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Each discipline is taught by at least one faculty expert specializing in that creative field. We aim to build a community of individuals with varied interests and abilities while promoting collaboration across all media. Students explore a wide spectrum of concepts, materials, techniques, and equipment within contemporary cultural and artistic contexts. Ceramics functions as a multidisciplinary practice that combines ceramic methods with sculpture, painting, drawing, print media, digital tools, design, and architecture. While honoring ceramics' rich heritage, our program also embraces current methodologies and thinking. Traditional approaches are integrated with modern applications, offering diverse resources for investigating ideas in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms.
The ceramics program's philosophy places equal importance on conceptual development and technical skill.
Students are urged to cultivate their individual artistic vision and discover their unique expression through dedicated exploration. The ceramics curriculum emphasizes hands-on engagement with materials to achieve expressive outcomes. The creative process is valued as much as the final product. These objectives are pursued through demonstrations, lectures, and critiques that focus on independent research and studio practice.
