Digital transformation is all around us, and selecting the ideal computing major can seem daunting. Michigan Tech's General Computing program offers a pathway where you can blend the latest knowledge and practical skills with a strong theoretical base, building the expertise needed to address future computing challenges.
With General Computing, you get one or two semesters to explore which BS degree aligns best with your aspirations. It serves as a launchpad, giving you time to select your ideal major while completing introductory courses and maintaining progress toward graduation. Once you discover your perfect match, transitioning into that degree program is effortless.
You'll join a cohort of first-year general computing students taking the same core courses. In computing classes, you'll collaborate in small teams of three to four peers. These teams evolve into study groups, research partners, and a supportive network. Plus, academic advisors and professors provide ongoing guidance, with regular check-ins to ensure you and your team stay on course.
