Graduate students in plant pathology can focus on one or multiple specialization areas such as phytobacteriology, mycology, virology, epidemiology, host-parasite relationships, soil microbiology, disease control, and molecular biology. These specializations may be applied to research fields including vegetable production, fruit cultivation, nursery and landscape plants, ornamental species, field crops, turfgrass, and forest/tree pathology. The program encourages coursework that builds a strong foundation in biological and physical sciences while allowing for specialized study.
