Our constructed and natural surroundings—including buildings, facilities, interior spaces, infrastructure, neighborhoods, and communities—form a fundamental part of our social fabric. Each new space and structure helps mold a community's identity. Inadequate planning, design, or construction can negatively impact a community's visual appeal and deplete its resources. On the other hand, thoughtfully planned, designed, and built environments support and enhance communities.
The PhD in Planning, Design, and Construction, with specializations in construction management, environmental design, or urban and regional planning, prepares students to tackle tomorrow's challenges. Program graduates will gain the expertise to assess how plans, regulations, designs, materials, project management approaches, and construction methods influence economic, environmental, and social considerations for stakeholders and society.ns, regulations, design, materials, project management techniques, and construction systems on the economic, environmental, and social concerns of stakeholders and society.
