The department prioritizes this field through extensive educational initiatives, research projects, and community engagement led by numerous faculty members. Students can pursue dual degrees in Food Science and Integrative Toxicology via MSU's Environmental and Integrative Toxicology Sciences Program. The department also provides master's level studies in food safety. Faculty research currently examines substances impacting human and animal wellbeing, such as mycotoxins, other natural compounds, foodborne pathogens and their toxins, along with various nutritional components. Students admitted into our graduate program have at least a 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work or an appropriate MS program, Competitive Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores (50th percentile for verbal and quantitative, and 3.5 or above for analytical).
