Italian Studies equips students with language proficiency and cultural insights to analyze over two millennia of Italy's artistic and intellectual heritage. The program readies graduates for diverse careers in business, government, education, humanities, and scientific fields while accommodating double majors and study abroad opportunities in Italy. The curriculum begins with Introductory Italian (ITL 101) and Italy: Matrix of Civilization (ITL 221), which explores the nation's profound historical and cultural legacy. Students complete the 27-credit major through interdisciplinary courses spanning Art History, Classical Studies, Film Studies, History, and Music, fostering comprehensive understanding of Italian culture from multiple academic viewpoints.

Miami's Italian Studies program cultivates intercultural competence, advanced research skills, analytical thinking, and articulate communication - essential abilities in our globalized world. Graduates launch careers in communications, international organizations, arts administration, marketing, global commerce, and teaching, while others continue studies at prestigious institutions like the University of Pennsylvania and Ohio State University for professional degrees in law, business, and related fields.
