This program equips students with a strong grounding in language, literature, and cultural studies. The department runs an immersive summer program in Germany tailored for intermediate and advanced learners. Current global developments highlight Germany's growing political, economic, and cultural significance. As a German studies major, you'll explore these themes while developing language proficiency and literary analysis skills. Through this journey, you'll gain cultural understanding and new perspectives on a dynamic society. Miami's German curriculum establishes core language competencies, which you'll enhance through upper-level courses examining German-speaking cultures and literary traditions. You can further refine your skills through study abroad opportunities, either through Miami's programs or those approved by the Office of Global Initiatives.

Basic requirements for admission as an international student to a bachelor's degree program include the following:
Completion of formal secondary education in a pre-university curriculum.
Completion must include the awarding of a diploma or the issuance of a leaving certificate or matriculation certificate generally recognized as the educational qualification necessary for admission to higher studies.
