The writing major enables students to delve into contemporary writing techniques, journalism, and digital media forms. While some pursue writing as an artistic outlet, others master crafting content for diverse media platforms or effectively communicating scientific and technical findings to both general and professional audiences. Many collaborate within digital media's dynamic landscape, honing skills in interactive and nonlinear communication. Every course in the major focuses on cultivating essential writing abilities, creative thinking, and analytical judgment to develop strong writers.
The program's three focus areas—creative writing, science writing, and nonfiction writing—offer courses from beginner to advanced levels. Each subject demands substantial writing practice and revisions. Students typically participate in workshops where their work is reviewed and receive detailed instructor feedback.
The first-year application is intended for students who have concluded their secondary education and wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree as a full-time university student.
