The Bachelor of Science in Art and Design (BSAD) offers undergraduates an integrated curriculum exploring interdisciplinary art and design fields. This program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on skills applicable to various design specialties. Students will engage with the complete design workflow - from initial concepts to final execution - through analytical thinking, creative exploration, visualization methods, material fabrication, evaluation processes, refinement cycles, and self-assessment. The goal is to equip graduates for professional opportunities ranging from industrial design to graphic arts, data visualization, and both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artistic expressions. This degree prepares students to capitalize on evolving career prospects in both commercial and educational sectors.

The BSAD program requirements start with two sequential introductory courses: 4.021 Design Studio: Fundamentals of Design and 4.022 Design Studio: Design Methods and Technologies, designed for second-year students. Juniors select a third studio course alongside four core classes covering design principles, artistic practice, digital tools, and historical context. Students complete four additional electives from interdisciplinary options focused on three key areas: physical objects, information systems, and artistic experiences. The curriculum culminates with a thesis preparation course and final thesis presentation during the senior year.
