The Art Education program is a studio-focused Major that equips future artist-educators with the skills to pursue careers as certified Visual Arts instructors. This Major blends practical studio art and art history coursework from the Art Department with renowned teacher training from the College of Education.
The Art Education Major is completed alongside Madonna University's Secondary Provisional Teaching Certificate Program. As a State of Michigan Comprehensive Major, Art Education does not require a teaching minor.
Students enrolled in the Art Education Major with Teacher Certification Program:
acquire skills to nurture young learners' manual dexterity, creative thinking, and artistic expression
receive comprehensive training to teach Art at all grade levels from elementary through high school
master the art of designing engaging Visual Arts curriculum
develop technical proficiency to seamlessly integrate Arts education with other academic disciplines
Current high school students and high school graduates who have not enrolled in a post-secondary institution after high school apply to Madonna as a freshman.
Cumulative high school GPA of 2.8 or above
Requirement for Undergraduate Admission:
TOEFL: 70 (iBT); IELTS: 6; MELAB: 76
