Loyola's special education program equips you with techniques and approaches to assist learners with diverse academic, social, and behavioral requirements, spanning ages 3 through 21. Students in special education frequently face challenges without adequate support, potentially leading to neglect or academic struggles. Graduating as a dual-certified educator in both special and elementary education (with optional ESL certification), you'll be prepared to guide all learners. Earning a bachelor of science in special education from Loyola ensures you'll graduate with the expertise, abilities, and ethical principles required to teach special needs students across all developmental stages, including elementary grades 1-6. Through extensive practical experiences in Chicago's schools and community programs, you'll accumulate teaching hours equivalent to a full year, preparing you to lead your own classroom confidently. Drawing from Loyola's comprehensive curriculum, you'll apply educational theories, analytical data, and research-based methodologies to inform classroom decisions and evaluate instructional effectiveness.
