The Bachelor of Arts in Dance program provides comprehensive, challenging dance education integrated with Loyola's Ignatian liberal arts tradition, emphasizing social justice. Students explore classical, modern, and international dance styles that inform both traditional and innovative approaches to choreography, scholarly inquiry, and stage performance. The program's performance-focused teaching methodology bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application. Dance students frequently participate in both academic and extracurricular performances. Each year, the Newhart Family Theatre hosts a fully staged production showcasing classical and contemporary repertoire. Students also present site-specific works at various campus locations including the Loyola University Museum of Art, environmental sustainability facilities, campus chapels, and beyond, while also contributing to musical theater productions and individual creative endeavors. Chicago's vibrant arts scene functions as an extension of our learning environment, with students connecting to the professional dance world through Loyola's distinguished faculty, visiting artists, internship programs, exceptional performances, and specialized training sessions.
