The Department of Theatre Arts focuses on cultivating skilled theatre professionals, including performers, scholars, historians, and educators. We strive to uphold excellence in theatrical artistry while deeply exploring and preserving the traditions of Black theatre. Our Goals - We aim to educate theatre practitioners by offering comprehensive training in theatrical methods and applications. Students gain exposure to varied theatrical styles while studying and advancing African-American theatre traditions. The program fosters understanding of interconnected Fine and Performing Arts disciplines and their role in theatrical production. We equip students with fundamental skills for careers in stage, screen, and television performance. Each specialization track is overseen by an appointed Area Coordinator under the Department Chair's supervision. Theatre Arts majors receive guidance from their designated Area Coordinator and must formally select a concentration, passing required auditions or interviews for their chosen focus.
