Studying Classical Civilization, Latin, or Ancient Greek as a major offers comprehensive insight into Western heritage and values. Minors in these three disciplines (also offered) significantly enhance a liberal arts education. These programs serve as strong foundations for pre-law, pre-med, business, and various professions: Classics students develop interdisciplinary thinking skills that allow them to leverage holistic cultural perspectives. Those aiming for graduate studies in Classics should enroll in both language courses and pursue a Latin and/or Greek major. Our program boasts a strong track record of placing graduates in top-ranked national programs. Ancient language majors/minors also provide excellent groundwork for advanced studies in Theology, Ancient History, Philosophy, Classical Art & Archaeology, or secondary education careers. Along with the capstone course "Humanism of Classical Antiquity" in senior year, all majors must compile a portfolio showcasing their finest work and program development reflections.
