The MFA in Film and Television Production equips students to bring their narratives to life across multiple screen platforms. Participants develop their creative vision while gaining hands-on experience in all production phases, including screenwriting, direction, financial planning, and post-production. During the first three terms, each student directs two short films. As they approach the end of this period, they select a focus area from five options: fiction direction, documentary direction, creative production, cinematography, or editing. Specialized training follows, enabling students to customize their thesis project and related materials according to their selected concentration. SFTV maintains a policy granting students full rights to their work, facilitating festival submissions and distribution opportunities.
