LMU's Philosophy program offers a thoughtful and analytical curriculum that leads students through an examination of core concepts shaping human life and forming the foundation of all intellectual pursuits. The program investigates concepts like purpose, reality, understanding, existence, morality, fairness, and aesthetics.
Students are encouraged to examine and investigate, alongside thinkers throughout history, essential philosophical inquiries: Does a divine being exist? What distinguishes humanity? How do we define and attain fulfillment? What constitutes a meaningful existence? How does consciousness relate to the physical world? Can we comprehend all of existence? Are there universal ethical principles? What makes a society truly equitable?
This Philosophy program is both rigorous and illuminating. It introduces students to the quest for deeper understanding while fostering a comprehensive worldview and self-awareness. Through this process, learners cultivate the practice of probing essential questions and hone the analytical abilities needed to address intricate issues and form well-reasoned evaluations.
