The Master of Science program in Nutrition and Food Sciences mandates completion of at least 30 graduate credit hours, comprising 24 coursework hours and 6 thesis research hours. A minimum of 15 credits must come from courses numbered 7000 or higher. Within the 24 coursework hours, students may enroll in no more than 9 hours of NFS 7030 (Advanced Food and Nutrition Research). These 9 hours represent the maximum allowable across both master's and doctoral studies - if fully utilized during the M.S. program, the course becomes unavailable at the Ph.D. level.
Applicants lacking undergraduate nutrition coursework may need to fulfill prerequisite undergraduate classes. The program may require additional credits beyond the 30-hour minimum to ensure comprehensive field knowledge, as determined by the student's Major Professor and/or Graduate Advisory Committee.
