The LSU Master of Public Administration (MPA) program equips students with thorough knowledge to become skilled leaders in public service.
This graduate program trains students for careers in government, non-profits, and private organizations that engage with public agencies on policy matters. Upon completion, graduates can effectively communicate a public service viewpoint and collaborate with diverse teams and communities.
The 36-credit MPA program consists of 27 required credits and 9 elective credits, covering both public policy and management topics. Students develop skills in policy analysis and program administration for governmental and non-profit sectors, with a focus on policy execution, program oversight, and ethical leadership through practical coursework.
Required courses explore economics, budgeting, finance, organizational dynamics, data analysis, and personnel management. Participants gain hands-on experience either through internships (for pre-service students) or practicums (for current public sector employees), connecting academic learning with professional practice.
