The School of Education provides diverse graduate programs designed to equip students for professional roles in teaching, research, policy development, and educational administration. Graduates pursue careers across various settings including K-12 schools, higher education institutions, government agencies, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. The Master of Arts program welcomes applicants holding a bachelor's degree who satisfy both Graduate School and departmental admission criteria, though it does not lead to teaching certification. The curriculum requires completion of 36 credit hours, with both thesis and non-thesis pathways available.
Each student's academic journey is customized through collaboration with their graduate advisory committee, comprising the primary advisor and at least two other graduate faculty members, ensuring alignment with LSU Graduate School committee standards.
The Applied Research Measurement and Evaluation (ARME) track mandates 37 credit hours minimum, with over half at the 7000-level or higher. Participants must successfully complete a Comprehensive Examination as outlined in the Graduate School Bulletin, which contains further program specifications.
