The LSU School of Art provides photography concentrations within both the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Studio Art programs, along with an undergraduate minor option.
Students in photography develop skills to produce compelling imagery while examining the medium's cultural significance. The program encourages learners to cultivate and sharpen their visual perspective, employing photographic methods as a means of artistic expression. Coursework blends modern and traditional approaches with current artistic discourse, offering opportunities to experiment with diverse techniques. Darkroom and studio facilities support hands-on learning in black-and-white, color, large-format, alternative processes, studio lighting, and digital photography through both structured courses and independent projects.
