The LSU School of Art offers a graphic design program for both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees, standing as one of the most extensive in the area. According to Animation Career Review, LSU ranks 25th among public institutions (top 5% of evaluated schools) and fifth in the Southern region (top 3% of considered schools) for graphic design. With faculty committed to outstanding education and industry professionals teaching intermediate and advanced courses, students develop into skilled visual communicators, analytical thinkers, and innovative problem solvers.
In today's world, where visuals and text convey messages across print, digital platforms, retail spaces, offices, and multimedia projects, graphic designers must excel in a diverse set of abilities—aesthetic, conceptual, technical, social, strategic, and presentational. The BFA and MFA graphic design programs equip students to tackle these demands through hands-on training in typography, digital illustration, print and editorial design, information design, motion graphics, packaging, environmental design, branding, and identity development.
