Introduced by the College of Music and Dramatic Arts in 1998-99, the Bachelor of Arts in Music program provides a more adaptable and less rigorous alternative to the Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Music programs.
This degree suits students seeking a wider range of subjects alongside fundamental music training. The Bachelor of Arts in Music features 8 specialized concentrations, each offering a structured academic path with pre-selected courses tailored to specific focus areas. Participants enjoy considerable flexibility in selecting courses, both within and outside the LSU School of Music.
As a liberal arts degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music enables students to explore varied interests and multiple career possibilities. Graduates are equipped for professional opportunities in education, performance, music libraries, arts administration, communications, music business, human services, as well as advanced studies in music history or theory.
