This master's program fulfills all requirements for New York State professional certification in your initial certification area. For those pursuing educational technology specialist certification, you'll need to complete this degree, pass the NYS CST 71 content exam, and provide documentation of completing the Child Abuse, Violence Prevention, and DASA workshops. The program allows you to earn both professional certification in your initial field and educational technology certification simultaneously.
This program does not qualify candidates for their first initial teaching certification in New York State public schools. Applicants without prior education degrees or backgrounds cannot obtain NYS teacher certification through this program. However, if you hold a degree in another field and your goals extend beyond NYS K-12 public education, you may still enroll in the program if it aligns with your objectives. We're happy to discuss these options with you.
In today's educational landscape, effective technology integration in K-12 settings carries particular significance. The Educational Technology program specifically addresses educators' needs to captivate students, accommodate diverse learning styles, and create impactful, nurturing learning environments through technology.
