LIU Post's Bachelor of Science in Adolescence Education: Mathematics trains future math educators to foster student achievement in math. This degree provides the expertise, tools, and groundwork needed to inspire middle and high school learners across different ability levels, teaching them core concepts like problem-solving, reasoning, and probability. Students gain hands-on experience through supervised teaching placements in real classrooms for both middle (grades 7-9) and high school (grades 10-12) settings, where they can shadow certified teachers, engage with pupils, and grasp how adolescents approach mathematical concepts.
Upon fulfilling degree requirements and passing all certification exams (LAST, ATS-W, and CSTs), graduates receive New York State's Initial Teaching Certification, qualifying them to teach mathematics to students in grades 7 through 12.
