According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2018), there's increasing demand for social workers in areas like mental health and substance abuse treatment, as well as in hospital settings. Our program equips beginning social work professionals to address the evolving and distinct service requirements of Brooklyn's diverse populations, New York City, and surrounding areas. Alumni leave with robust clinical, advocacy, and management capabilities that they apply in community organizations, government agencies, and private sector institutions throughout the region.

Through collaborations with neighborhood organizations, we produce well-prepared generalist social workers capable of assisting individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities using multiple approaches.

Beyond career preparation, the program also readies students for advanced studies in social work and related disciplines. Program completers may qualify for advanced standing in graduate Social Work programs, potentially allowing them to obtain a master's degree with just one additional year of study.
