Educating high school students in physics is deeply fulfilling - guiding them to appreciate the elegance in both the vast cosmos and microscopic world - while transforming their perspectives on existence and reality. As states implement significant reforms to advance science education, physics educators are increasingly sought after. If you possess not just an enthusiasm for physics but also a desire to inspire others with this knowledge, Lewis' Physics teacher degree program is ideal for you. Our Physics Department offers a fully accredited program that equips graduates to teach grades 9-12 in Illinois public and private institutions. This state-approved program, recognized by the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board and the Illinois State Board of Education, fulfills all requirements for a Physics major. Students must pursue dual majors in Physics and Secondary Education. Consult with advisors in both the Physics and Education Departments for course specifics and program approval.
