Lehigh University's research in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Social Computing examines diverse aspects of how people interact with technology and its societal impacts. Key focus areas encompass data visualization, social platform development, human-AI system dynamics, and digital privacy concerns. These investigations tackle critical modern challenges like combating online abuse, fostering civic participation in digital spaces, and understanding technological opposition. Graduate students in Computer Science pursue innovative studies across multiple disciplines, including data management, web search technologies, visual computing, interface design, web applications, media processing, computational biology, artificial intelligence, hardware architecture, automation, cybersecurity, networking, and portable devices. Additionally, faculty and students engage in cross-disciplinary computer science research through partnerships with other Lehigh departments, external academic institutions, and industry research facilities. Current collaborative efforts span all four Lehigh colleges, involving fields like life sciences, creative design, social sciences, business studies, and pedagogy, along with various engineering disciplines including civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering.
