With 21 countries recognizing it as their official language and ranking as the world's third most common language, Spanish opens doors to diverse communities and civilizations boasting profound historical, cultural, and literary heritage. In the United States alone, more than 10 million individuals speak Spanish, forming the planet's fourth-largest Spanish-speaking community. Lehigh University's Spanish program covers everything from introductory language classes to advanced studies exploring the literature and cultures of Spain, Latin America, and U.S. Latino communities. Students can pursue either a minor or major in Spanish, with numerous courses also counting toward the Latin American Studies minor.
