Lehigh's Africana Studies program offers interdisciplinary undergraduate majors and minors, enabling students to explore the diverse histories, cultures, and sociopolitical experiences of African-descended populations worldwide. True to liberal arts principles, Africana Studies enhances all Lehigh students' ability to critically examine their own cultural backgrounds in relation to other societies. The curriculum encompasses varied specializations such as Hip Hop cultural analysis, African-American literary studies, identity politics, art historical perspectives, religious studies methodologies, critical race theory, gender and sexuality in the African diaspora, African-American performance traditions, and transnational African cultural studies.
