LTU's mechanical engineering program focuses on a foundational curriculum covering manufacturing, mechanical systems, and thermal sciences. Students gain expertise in product design, production processes, and quality testing, along with fundamental knowledge of mechanical structures, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and energy systems. The program offers six specialization tracks: renewable energy, automotive systems, production engineering, nanoscale technology, structural mechanics, and thermofluid dynamics. Additionally, students can enhance their studies with optional minors in aerospace engineering or energy systems engineering. Given the prevalence of electromechanical devices, the curriculum also incorporates mechatronics coursework.
