The Master of Arts in Studio Art is designed for individuals who have undergraduate training in art or design and seek to advance their expertise in a particular studio specialization (such as textiles, sculpture, printmaking, painting, jewelry/metals/enameling, glass, drawing, or ceramics). This program enables students to create a professional portfolio for pursuing an M.F.A., enhance career opportunities, or refine technical abilities for industry applications.
The Jewelry, Metals, and Enameling specialization helps students craft personalized research approaches to develop a cohesive and unique collection of work. The curriculum emphasizes exploring connections across media and disciplines. Participants are encouraged to engage with current practices, discussions, and trends both locally and internationally, within their field and the broader arts/crafts/design community. Beyond personal studio work, students can strengthen their skills by attending undergraduate demonstrations and critiques. The program fosters the use of both traditional and modern techniques, supported by access to metalsmithing tools, enameling kilns, and a digital fabrication lab.
