The department provides Master of Science programs in mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering. These programs equip students for senior roles in industry, consulting, and government sectors, while also laying the foundation for doctoral studies. A minimum of 30 graduate-level credit hours in coursework or research is required for the master's degree. Kansas State University's Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department features distinct graduate tracks in both disciplines, culminating in M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Our distinguished faculty conduct pioneering research in advanced facilities, while graduate students achieve excellence in academic and extracurricular pursuits. The curriculum and research opportunities span conventional and innovative areas within both engineering fields. Supported by over $5 million in research funding, nearly all graduate students qualify for research assistantships (GRA). Many also secure teaching assistantships (GTA) with substantial tuition waivers for leading laboratory instruction.
