The master's degree program offers a versatile curriculum that equips students for leadership roles in civil engineering firms, consulting agencies, and government organizations, while also providing a foundation for further academic pursuits. Participants can select from several pathways: a non-thesis track (30 credit hours plus a comprehensive exam), a thesis route (24 course credits and 6 thesis credits), a project-based alternative (28 course credits and 2 project credits), or complete their studies remotely via K-State's global campus. The department provides extensive Master of Science and Ph.D. programs in civil engineering, with vigorous research initiatives across environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation/materials, and water resources engineering disciplines, fostering a synergy between graduate education, research, instruction, and professional application.
