This program offers comprehensive training in both theory and clinical practice across the five key domains of Athletic Training: preventing injuries/illnesses and promoting wellness, conducting clinical evaluations and diagnoses, delivering immediate and emergency care, providing treatment and rehabilitation, and managing organizational and professional health.
Upon completion, graduates will apply research, innovative approaches, and evidence-based healthcare practices when working with clients in diverse settings including secondary schools, higher education institutions, medical facilities, corporate environments, military organizations, and performing arts. Kansas State University's athletic training curriculum culminates in a Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree. The MSAT program offers two entry pathways: (1) a Five-Year Master's degree option or (2) a post-baccalaureate degree track. Admission is competitive, with 25 students selected annually for the program.
The professional MSAT program spans 24 consecutive months across 6 semesters. The initial 15 months (first four semesters) primarily take place on the Manhattan campus, followed by a final 9-month period dedicated to intensive clinical training.
