Kansas State University stands among the select master's level theater programs in the U.S. featuring a drama therapy specialization, available through their Music, Theatre, and Dance graduate studies. A key advantage of this program lies in its robust theatrical foundation and chances to develop educational theater initiatives or community projects addressing social issues. The curriculum integrates service learning and internships, giving students hands-on experience working directly with clients.
The KSU MA program meets all educational and training standards set by the North American Drama Therapy Association for professional certification. Those pursuing the drama therapy track can seek Graduate Teaching Assistantships within the Theatre Department or other university departments. These GTAs offer tuition coverage for up to 10 credits per term plus a living stipend. Additionally, students may qualify for Graduate Assistantships across campus, which provide in-state tuition rates and supplemental income.
