The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID), part of the university's Biomedical Engineering Department, provides a one-year MSE program known as the David E. Swirnow Master's in Bioengineering Innovation and Design. This initiative focuses on training future pioneers who can connect scientific advancement with real-world healthcare needs. Participants select CBID for direct collaboration with top medical professionals and to drive transformative innovations that enhance global patient outcomes. We aim to address critical health issues by designing impactful solutions. Our effectiveness is reflected in how our graduates' work elevates healthcare standards and expands access worldwide. Through our clinical immersion approach, learners pinpoint challenges, collaborate on inventions, and bring these innovations to market for widespread use. The CBID MSE curriculum is designed for engineering graduates, including those with professional or research backgrounds. This intensive 12-month journey starts in summer and progresses through fall and spring, culminating in a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) degree awarded during May commencement ceremonies at the Homewood campus.
