The Master of Health Science (MHS) program in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides graduate-level training for careers in medicine, biomedical research, public health, and allied health fields. Our program emphasizes biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, disease mechanisms, and public health principles. Students can customize their education through elective courses offered across various departments. The BMB department offers two master's programs: this intensive 9-month MHS and a comprehensive 2-year ScM. Both programs share identical first-year coursework, with MHS students having the option to transition to the ScM program, which features an additional year of laboratory research culminating in a faculty-mentored thesis project.
Admissions will waive this requirement for degree applicants only if a student has completed a four-year degree from an accredited U.S. institution.
Students must have IELTS Academic Band Score equal to 7, or a minimum score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based), and 100 (internet-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
