The nation's first graduate program of its kind focuses on educating scholars and instructors in four primary disciplines: Egyptology, Assyriology, Northwest Semitic languages and literature (encompassing Hebrew Bible studies), along with Near Eastern archaeology and art. Course offerings may be adjusted annually to accommodate enrolled students' requirements. Independent reading and study guided by faculty hold equal importance to classroom instruction. Small seminar groups facilitate intensive examination of specialized topics between students and professors. Since the program culminates in a Ph.D., admission for Master's degree candidates occurs only under exceptional circumstances.
