Neuroscience explores the nervous system and its operations. Researchers in this field examine the nervous system across various scales, from molecular interactions with cell membranes to brain networks supporting cognitive processes like speech. Significant advancements have occurred at every level, with the discipline expanding continuously. At the Homewood campus, nervous system investigations span multiple departments including Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Cognitive Science, and Psychological and Brain Sciences, along with the Krieger Mind/Brain Institute. This concentration of expertise enables a cutting-edge, cross-departmental initiative that delivers comprehensive neuroscience education plus specialized instruction in one of four concentration areas.
