The Cognitive Psychology Program at Iowa State University equips students with fundamental scientific knowledge and its practical applications in cognitive psychology. The program's core objective is to cultivate the intellectual and technical abilities required for independent research during their time at Iowa State and in subsequent roles. Through coursework and close collaboration with mentors, students gain comprehensive understanding of key discoveries and theories within their specialized fields. Furthermore, direct involvement in research initiatives enables students to master experimental design, data analysis, and effectively communicating findings via national conference presentations and academic publications. While many alumni pursue academic paths, a significant portion have also established successful careers in both government and corporate research settings (refer to the following section for details about our graduates' current positions).
