The Nuclear Physics Theory and Experiment teams at Iowa State University specialize in exploring fundamental aspects of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Strong collaboration exists between these complementary research areas, fostering a dynamic academic environment through continuous interaction. The Theory group concentrates on QCD-based investigations of hard scattering processes, quarkonia generation and suppression, QCD spin dynamics, non-perturbative QCD methods, plus nuclear structure and reactions at various energy levels. Meanwhile, the Experimental group participates in major projects including Brookhaven's PHENIX experiment and CERN's ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, studying quarkonia behavior, Quark Gluon Plasma characteristics, hard scattering phenomena in dense matter, and hadronic spin structures.
