The Department of Music and Theatre provides a robust undergraduate music program where students learn from dedicated full-time faculty in a nurturing atmosphere that fosters personal growth. Students can pursue two music degrees: a focused Bachelor of Music with reduced general education requirements, or a broader Bachelor of Arts with a music major. (The department also oversees the Theatre Program - details available under Theatre and Performing Arts.)
The music program features:
An extensive professional curriculum preparing students for music careers in education, performance, composition, or graduate-level music studies.
Music literature, theory, and performance courses accessible to all university students, irrespective of their major.
Embracing its land-grant mission, the department maintains a faculty of accomplished scholars, educators, and performers dedicated to teaching excellence, creative/scholarly pursuits, and community arts engagement. The program holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
