Hone your talents at the country's most renowned Jazz Studies program. In 1947, the University of North Texas pioneered jazz education by becoming the first U.S. university to offer a jazz degree. Now, nestled within America's largest music school, UNT's jazz program continues to lead in jazz education, building a global reputation for outstanding achievements in both academic and professional jazz circles. Recognized as one of the most prestigious programs of its kind, UNT's Jazz Studies was the first such degree program ever established. You'll enjoy numerous performance opportunities with both campus and external ensembles, including the Grammy-nominated One O'Clock Lab Band that has performed across Europe, Asia, and Australia. The program also features the celebrated Jazz Singers, along with other ensembles like: Eight additional jazz lab bands, Four Jazz Singers groups, The L-5 and Super 400 electric guitar groups, The Zebras modern music collective, The Jazz Repertory Ensemble, The Latin Jazz Ensemble, and The U-Tubes jazz trombone group
