The Sociology Department provides academic programs culminating in either a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or a minor in sociology. Students completing these programs will acquire and demonstrate: foundational sociological knowledge, proficiency in sociological research methods, analytical reasoning abilities, practical application of sociology to contemporary societal challenges, adherence to sociological and professional ethics, technological competence, effective communication capabilities, and skills for personal and professional growth.
Program graduates comprehend the functioning and evolution of social structures, groups, and institutions. They can analyze the roots and impacts of social conformity, deviance, and disparities. Alumni can implement sociological insights about human behavior in professional contexts and daily experiences. Graduates develop the ability to critically evaluate information, form independent judgments, and articulate perspectives on social concerns and public policy matters.
