The public relations program equips students with essential concepts, skills, and knowledge to help organizations foster productive relationships with various audiences. Through the PR curriculum, students gain expertise for careers in corporate communications, government relations, and PR agencies. The program emphasizes writing, research, digital media, and professional development, culminating in a hands-on internship to apply and enhance these skills.
The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication trains students for careers in media and communication. The school features three undergraduate programs:
Advertising (B.A.)
Journalism and Mass Communication (B.S.)
Public Relations (B.S.)
Additionally, Greenlee provides an accelerated 4+1 program enabling students to earn both their bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism and mass communication in less time.
Students develop professional competencies alongside academic studies, utilizing cutting-edge technology and contemporary communication practices.
Established in 1905, the school became one of the first accredited journalism programs in 1948 and remains among the nation's longest continuously accredited programs. Accreditation standards emphasize a well-rounded liberal arts education complemented by rigorous discipline-specific coursework. Students pursuing one major within the school cannot add another major or minor from the same department, but must complete an additional major or minor in another academic area.
