The Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering curriculum is available at: www.catalog.iastate.edu/collegeofengineering/constructionengineering/#curriculumtext. This program holds accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission (https://www.abet.org), meeting both General Criteria and Program Criteria for Construction and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon graduation, construction engineering students should demonstrate:
Capacity to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex engineering challenges using engineering principles, scientific knowledge, and mathematical concepts.
Skill in implementing engineering design processes to develop solutions addressing specific requirements while accounting for public health, safety, welfare, and global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic considerations.
Proficiency in communicating clearly with diverse audiences.
Awareness of ethical and professional obligations in engineering scenarios and capacity to make reasoned decisions that account for the worldwide, economic, environmental, and societal implications of engineering solutions.
Competence in collaborative teamwork, including providing leadership, fostering inclusive environments, setting objectives, organizing tasks, and achieving goals.
Ability to design and perform suitable experiments, evaluate and understand data, and employ engineering reasoning to reach valid conclusions.
Capability to obtain and implement new knowledge through effective learning approaches as required.
Equivalent of a minimum 3.0 high school GPA on 4.0 scale. In addition to the requirement, students must meet the following minimum high school course requirements: 4 years of English or your native language; 3 years of science (including at least two years of laboratory science courses which emphasize elements of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of math (including algebra and geometry); 2 years of social studies.
English Language Requirements:
TOEFL - Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) score of 71 with a minimum score of 17 in both the Writing and Speaking sections and Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) score of 530
IELTS - Overall band score of 6.0 with no sub score below 5.5
PTE - Score of 48
